MATHS


  •  Maths Dictionary - Get your class to make their own Maths Dictionary, which they can refer to during their normal Maths work. Guidance and Examples are given.
  •  Maths Worksheets - Use the Mathematics Worksheet Factory software to improve numeracy in your classroom. Includes lots of fun ideas to practice arithmetic.
  •  Number Selector - A clever way of generating one and two-digit numbers, using fish! Instructions for assembly included. Contributed by Julie Rance.
  •  Number Hat - A fantastic idea for developing number bonds and many other Numeracy concepts.
  • Sports Ladders - A fun mathematical activity, which takes advantage of children's interest in sport.
  •  Puzzle Display - Make a puzzle display to encourage the children in your class/school to use their minds. Guidance, ideas and example puzzles (with links to other puzzle sites) are given.
  •  Trail Hunt - A great activity (PDF), containing a complete set of cards and teacher's notes. Contributed by Barbara Barnes.
  •  Trail Hunt 2 - This interactive Powerpoint presentation is based on Barbara's activity listed above (using the same questions, but presented in a different format). Contributed by Ian Guest.
  •  Maths Quiz - An interactive Powerpoint quiz, covering a range of concepts. Contributed by Nick Jones.
  • General Maths Worksheets - A number of Maths worksheets, giving children practice in a variety of topics.

  • LITERACY

  •   Prediction - Activities to encourage your children to predict when reading and listening to stories.
  •   Skimming and Scanning - Fun activities encouraging children to search for specific letter groups.
  •   Sequencing Activity - Children have to put a jumbled poem into the correct order by reading carefully (worksheets provided)
    •   Goldilocks Sequencing - A sequencing activity, based on the well-known story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
    •    Alphabetical Order - PDF containing five lists of Tudor words which children should put into alphabetical order.
    •   Ordering Books - A fun test to challenge children's ability to put things into alphabetical order.
    •   Dictionary Game - A great way of encouraging children to familiarise themselves with dictionaries.

    • SCIENCE

    •   Wicked Science! - A brilliant worksheet giving guidance for planning a "wicked" Science Investigation!

    •    Science AT1 Planning Grids - A wonderful set of planning sheets which children can use when carrying out experiments. There are four versions, which are differentiated according to age group. These grids were contributed by Jon Shepherd.
